Which big brands are becoming more sustainable?

With more and more pressure being put on brands to become more sustainable to help with the major waste problem in the fashion world, we took a look at some of the big brands who are already implementing procedures to become more green in their practises! 

H&M

This year H&M announced that they are on their way to sourcing 100% more sustainable materials for their production. This is all part of their plan to only use recycled or other sustainable materials by 2030. According to Textile Exchange, H&M is already the biggest buyer of preferred cotton in the world. 

Alongside this, H&M have offered a garment recycling service in all of their stores since 2013. You simply need to head to a store and hand over your garments in return for a voucher on your next visit. The store will then convert the garments into new products, sell them on as second hand or recycle into textile fibres to be used in new materials and products!

Stella McCartney 

Since launching her label, Stella McCartney has built responsibility into the core of her business. The whole company itself is vegetarian and features no leather, fur, skins or feathers in any of their collections. In all of the collections they try to use as much organic cotton as possible, and are constantly researching to find new materials and methods. 

Alongside all of this, did you know that all of the Stella McCartney offices in the UK are powered by wind and energy and abroad they use renewable energy?!

MANGO

According to MANGO, their goal is that 50% of the cotton used in its collections will be of sustainable origin by 2022.

Their 'Take Action' programme is a project that includes all initiatives aimed at creating a business model based on sustainability criteria and more environmentally friendly processes. 

They have since launched multiple collections using sustainable materials.
